Ordnance Explodes in Vietnam Schoolyard

On January 27, in the late afternoon, Vietnamese schoolchildren were reminded that the explosive effects of Vietnam War ordnance have not yet gone away.

In the city of Dong Ha, in Quang Tri province, ordnance hidden since the Vietnam War exploded just outside a schoolhouse, according to reports from the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.

While no one was harmed in the blast, the explosion scattered shrapnel, earth, and a large tree trunk across the schoolyard.
