Cultivating Survivor Leadership

Survivor Corps works to ensure that the voices of those most affected by violent conflict are heard. We provide the necessary information and resources to help survivors reclaim their place in society, promote human rights and diminish violence.

We train survivors to advocate for their rights, and facilitate their participation in local, national and global activism. We also provide training, assistance and financial resources to partner organizations willing to work together to rebuild lives and communities locally, regionally and internationally.

Survivor Corps believes in affecting change on the ground by providing training by and for survivors. Through our current networks and a growing circle of partner organizations, we are currently able to offer training in Africa, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Our training material frames survivors’ issues as human rights issues, places them within the context of international human rights law, and gives survivors concrete tools to apply them locally, nationally and internationally.

Putting Principles into Practice

A central aspect in our training is the translation of principles into practice. Participants will be able to use the knowledge and abilities gained in Survivor Corps Advocacy Training to create positive change in their communities. As part of the training, participants will design a specific and feasible service project they can carry out in their community. Examples of a service project could include making their local medical clinic accessible to people with disabilities, advocating to make health care available in remote areas, or challenging the government to ratify major international treaties upholding the rights of conflict survivors.

Currently available advocacy trainings include:

We are continually working to expand the scope and availability of our signature training programs.
